I am not Italian at all. There is absolutely no Italian blood in me.
So when I produce an italian-inspired dish that brings this much happiness to our little family's lips....
I feel like if I were Italian, my ancestors would have been pretty proud of this girl.
I basically do my best Italian "Mama Mia!" (complete with Italian accent) around the house and am inclined to sharpie a Pringle's Man mustache on my upper lip for full Italian-chef effect (still haven't fully committed to the last part, but you get the idea}).
I get too excited I guess.

Spicy Creamy Pasta Sauce:
I love this spicy orange sauce with cheesy crumbles and I know that deters from the Italian thing.... but spicy orange sauce topped with blue cheese..... Dang! It's good.
This spicy cream pepper pasta is made up of tomatoes, garlic, peppers (which can be left out if you don't want the spice!), and onion, then let to simmer for a few minutes.
Then just before you take the sauce off the heat, you introduce a bit of heavy cream and it turns into an orange masterpiece for your pasta.
Spicy Cream Pepper Pasta Ingredients:
- 1 medium red onion, chopped
- 2 teaspoon minced garlic
- ½ tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes, skip this if scared of spice!
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- ¼ cup GF chicken broth
- 1 ¾ cup crushed tomatoes
- ¾ tablespoon basil, chopped
- ½ teaspoon oregano, chopped
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 12 oz . package of GF noodles
- GF meatballs
What Type of bleu / blue cheese to use?
Blue cheese slices are slightly tangy and sharp with a nutty aroma. I actually buy these Burger Blue slices for burgers and can easily be turned into crumbles for salads and pasta dishes like this one.
What type of meatballs to use?
Because all of the recipes on Bless Her Heart Y'all are gluten-free and most readers need to stay gluten-free, I'm going to recommend that you really check the labels of any meatballs that you purchase.
These days there are plenty of gluten-free meatball options out there.
For this spicy cream pepper pasta recipe, I'd recommend looking for a gluten-free beef homestyle meatball, or a gluten-free turkey or beef Italian-seasoned meatball, it will go well with the flavors in this cream pepper sauce.
How to make Spicy Cream Pepper Pasta:
- Cook your gluten-free noodles according to package directions. Set aside.
- While the pasta is cooking, take a large skillet over medium/high heat, combine the oil, onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, and paprika. Allow to cook until the onion starts to become tender (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the chicken broth, basil, oregano and stir thoroughly. Allow to simmer until slightly reduced (about 8-10 minutes).
- Add the cream and mix well. Immediately take off of heat and combine with your cooked noodles and protein. Enjoy!

I made this the other night. It was really good. However it's missing the step to add the crushed tomatoes. I just added it before step 4 and it turned out well.
