Easiest Bratwurst Pasta Recipe!
That's right! Why make an adult version of an easy kid-classic and then have it hard to make?
This bratwurst pasta is really easy to make and tastes all kinds of fancy!
The al dente gluten-free pasta (gluten-free is optional here for many!) is swimming in the most delicious creamy-spiced parmesan sauce.
And what is smothered in the sauce itself? Well, some frozen peas (or another frozen vegetable of your choice!) and seared and browned bratwurst pieces.
The bratwurst itself adds to the mature factor.
The savory taste with the seared texture of each juicy bite adds a touch of wow to the dish.
I used Hillshire Farm's Original Bratwurst from Target last time I needed to make Bratwurst Pasta for a crowd a few weeks ago and everyone LOVED the brats in with the pasta!
Recipe Pairings:
This recipe can be a one-pot meal if you'd like it to be, just add in your veggies for your meal right into the skillet when the recipe asks for you to add the peas in!
Sometimes we go this route.
Other times we want some Air Fried Asparagus, Sriracha Cream Broccoli, or some Quick Teriyaki Green Beans to finish off the meal!
Ingredient List:
- 8-10 ounces gluten-free penne pasta
- 3 bratwurst (I used Hillshire Farms Original Bratwurst from Target)
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 4 Tablespoons gluten free flour
- 3 cups milk
- 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 ½ teaspoons paprika
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup frozen peas (or any other frozen vegetable of your choice!)
- ⅓ cup fresh grated parmesan
Super Simple Directions:
- Slice the brats into ½"-thick coins and place them in a heated skillet over medium heat. Cook until browned on both sides and cooked to an internal temperature of 145*F. Remove the brats coins from the skillet and keep on a plate inside your microwave to stay warm.
- In the bottom of the heat skillet, add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add in the flour and stir until the flour absorbs all of the liquids, about 20-30 seconds. Then add in the milk, stirring occasionally, ½ cup at a time. Once the first ½ cup of milk starts to simmer, you can add the next ½ cup and so on, until all the milk has been added.
- This is now a good time to cook your pasta according to package instructions so that the pasta is likely done at the same time as the sauce!
- Once all the milk has been added to the skillet, stir in the paprika and cayenne pepper and allow to simmer for 5-10 minutes, until the cream sauce starts to thicken. Stir in the frozen peas and parmesan cheese and allow to simmer for another 1-2 minutes before adding the bratwurst coins and pasta back into the skillet with the sauce.
- Remove the skillet from heat, stir to toss and coat, and serve while warm and steamy.

How to Store Leftovers:
You can store your leftovers once they have cooled down to room temperature.
Grab an airtight food-safe storage container and put your leftover pasta in that.
Place the sealed container in the fridge. This brat pasta will be good for up to 2-3 days in the fridge.
To reheat, stick your leftovers in a microwave-safe dish with a loose fitting cover over top to help prevent splatters and messes inside your microwave.
Then microwave your pasta dish for 60-120 seconds on high power.
The time will depend on how hot you like your leftover pasta to be and how much you are reheating at one time.

I didn’t have penne so I used linguine. When using linguine, it needs more salt in the sauce and I had 8 brats so I had to add salt to the sauce. I’m not overly fond of this recipe

Why are you hiding the reviews for this?
BHHYA Team says
I don't think we are hiding the reviews Christine. The stars seem to display well on our computers (4.1 stars for 8 reviews at the time of writing). Do you mind elaborating why you can't see reviews?
