Jump to Recipe

Asian Chicken Meatballs easily bake ground chicken and spices into juicy meatballs that are then smothered in an Asian zing sauce and sprinkled with crunchy sesame seeds and crisp green onion slices for the ultimate gluten-free meatball recipe!

Best Asian Chicken Meatballs

These gluten-free meatballs are made from baking hand-packed balls of ground chicken and delicate spices until perfectly warmed throughout.

Then these finger foods are drizzled in a sweet and tangy, slightly spicy, Asian zing sauce.

To top it all off, this appetizer treat are sprinkled with crunchy white sesame seeds and crisp fresh slivers of course-cut green onion spears.

What a perfect party platter idea, appetizer for a girl’s night table spread, or neighborhood block party finger food favorite!

Asian Meatball Pairings:

We love to serve these Asian meatballs alongside a fluffy bowl of Jasmine Rice or Easy Basmati Rice.

If you are more of a brown rice person, I have the best recipe for Instant Pot Brown Rice or even perfectly fluffy Pressure Cooker Quinoa!

Recipe Ingredients:

  • chicken meatballs
  • barbecue sauce
  • Gluten-Free Hoisin Sauce
  • gluten-free soy sauce
  • honey
  • garlic powder
  • sesame seeds and sliced green onion for garnishes

If you can’t find store-bought gluten-free meatballs, you can easily make your own!

I make my own homemade chicken or turkey meatballs all the time.

Use my Paleo Turkey Meatballs recipe but substitute the ground meat with ground chicken.

They are crazy simple to make!

Need a gluten-free hoisin sauce? You can also make your own! This recipe for Gluten-Free Hoisin Sauce is one of the most popular recipes on our site.

Type of Meatballs to Use:

You can use any meatball you would like to use for this recipe.

I love using chicken meatballs for the juicy light flavor without the heavy grease.

Feel free to use chicken, turkey, or beef meatballs.

If you need this recipe to be gluten-free, make sure that whichever meatball you choose is in fact gluten-free.

Many meatballs have sneaky gluten in them (usually because of breadcrumbs!)

You can use frozen or refrigerated, or fresh meatballs. You can even make your own.

Whichever route you choose to go down, just cook up your meatballs according to package or recipe instructions in your oven.

Meatball Instructions:

  1. Bake your meatballs according package or recipe instructions, depending on where you are getting your chicken meatballs from.
  2. While your meatballs are baking, mix together the barbecue, hoisin, and soy sauces, the honey, and garlic powder until well combined in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
  3. Once the meatballs are done baking, remove from heat and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes. After cooled, place the meatballs in the large bowl with the sauce and carefully tos the meatballs in the Asian zing sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onion garnishes and enjoy while still warm!

Recipe Pro Tips:

Try this zingy meatball recipe with gluten-free beef meatballs or perfectly-baked Turkey Meatballs!

Make sure that your meatballs are given ample time to cool down before tossing them in sauce. This ensures that the sauce’s consistency is perfectly smooth and sticky!

Leftover Meatballs:

Make sure that the meatballs that you want to save as leftovers have been allowed to cool down to room temperature before storing them away.

Place the leftover meatballs in a food-safe airtight container and put this in the fridge for up to 3 days.

To reheat these meatballs, place the refrigerated meatballs on a microwave-safe plate or microwave-safe dish.

Place a loose-fitting cover on the top of the dish to help prevent splatter inside your microwave.

Make sure that air can still escape from under this cover or lid.

Microwave on high power for 45-60 seconds, depending on how hot you like your leftover meatballs.
